The Black Krim Tomato, an heirloom treasure from Russia's Black Sea region, offers a unique blend of rich history and robust flavor. This distinctive beefsteak variety is celebrated not only for its striking dark, rich color but also for its unparalleled meaty, true tomato tang. A gem among heirloom tomatoes, Black Krim delivers a taste experience that is both gourmet and authentically earthy.

These tomatoes grow to a hearty size of 8 to 12 ounces, flourishing on indeterminate plants that continue to produce fruit throughout the season. Due to their generous size, these flattened globe-shaped tomatoes require ample support to thrive. The stems of the Black Krim are as robust as the fruit they bear, necessitating sturdy structures to uphold the bountiful harvest they promise.

The story of the Black Krim Tomato is as fascinating as its flavor. Discovered by a Swedish traveler in the Crimea, a region by the Black Sea, it's also known affectionately as Black Crimea or "Noire de" in some circles. Its fame has spread across Europe, celebrated for its unique appearance and unparalleled taste profile. Park Seed is proud to bring this esteemed variety to home gardeners, ensuring a gourmet touch in your garden.

Sweet, succulent, and abundantly produced, Black Krim tomatoes are a gardener's delight. Every seed in your packet is a step towards a season filled with culinary excellence. No matter the number of Black Krim plants you cultivate, you'll find yourself wishing for more of their delectable fruit.

For optimal growth, start your Black Krim Tomato seeds indoors about 5 to 6 weeks before the last frost date. Transfer them outdoors once the threat of frost has passed and nightly temperatures consistently stay above 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Space your plants 2 to 2½ feet apart to ensure they have room to spread and flourish. In the event of an unexpected late frost, safeguard your young plants with protective row covers.

This is my favorite tomato. Great balance not acidic at all. True old fashioned flavor and texture and very meaty and not soft mushy or juicy a great beefsteak I grow this one in only 3 1/2 hours of hot midday sun on my patio in a large pot near bronze torch in another container with even less light

Great tomato! 4 people found this helpful

I love Cherokee Purple, but its tendency to crack is depressing. Black Krim tastes a lot like it, but with a more durable skin & reliable shape. It performs great in our Mediterranean climate!
