Description / 'Blushing Susie' Black-Eyed Susan Vine Seeds

You'd blush too if you knew you'd just transformed the American landscape. The ever-popular Black-Eyed Susan Vine has a new glow, with masses of cheery flowers in every shade of red, plus pink, salmon, and even the occasional apricot or ivory.

Just as easy to grow and bloom-happy as the original orange-yellow combo, 'Blushing Susie' Black-Eyed Susan Vine is a colorful joy that you'll want for all your patio containers, trellises, the annual border, and anywhere else you want a splash of bold color.

This color blend is absolutely new to the Black-Eyed Susan Vine family, and it's taken many years to get the mix just right—lots of reds, with variations from pink to peach, plus a few whites thrown in for contrast. You'd expect such a range of colors in a mix, but here you get an entire "mix" on every plant. The blooms are a good size, held wide open and measuring about 1 to 2 inches across. They are very profuse, simply covering this compact vine over a long early-summer-to-frost season. Talk about long-blooming—'Blushing Susie' Black-Eyed Susan Vine keeps you in color for up to 6 months.

'Blushing Susie' Black-Eyed Susan Vine is happiest in full sun and moist, well-drained soil, 'Blushing Susie' should be sown directly into the soil or container in which she will be grown. Plant the seeds when the soil warms in spring, and in no time you'll be training up this vigorous little vine and enjoying its big bounty of rosy color.

Ornamental Peas instead 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I bought these seeds at the end of last season and planted them in pots this spring. They've finally bloomed but they're an ornamental pea (colorful flowers and delicious snow-type peas) and not Thunberia as stated on the packet. What I've saved from the packet says 1902 Lot:TM21020... and the rest was cut off and tossed when I opened the packet. I don't understand how this could have happened. Very disappointed as these were to be a gift to my daughter who loves this vine. It also says seed origin: England. Very strange.

I was so excited about these seeds. Sadly, only 4 of the 10 emerged. Just put them out in my cottage garden. Hopefully, the four will be fabulous.

I was so excited to buy these. My friend told me to try these for an area I had. Bought a trellis and planted them and they are growing like weeds :) This AM I had my 1st bloom, can't wait for it to fill in with all the different colors! I wish I could share some photos with this review.

So Excited! 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I've got 8 young plants out of 10 seeds! I'm so excited. They're all sitting on a sunny window sill waiting for Kentucky to warm up enough for me to plant them outside.

i planted these seeds with my green beans on a tower and the black eye vines are "EVERYWHERE"; but not the first bloom yet; they were planted the first of may; the vines are even everywhere in the garden, literally taking over, but again, no flowers

No blossoms 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I bought these seeds in March. They grew very quickly soon they were ready to put outside and into bigger pots. They are still very healthy and have filled the pots I put them in, but they have no blossoms. I fed them Miracle Grow Grows Bigger Plant Food Several times and, I still do not have any flowers.

Blushing Susan bine 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

Thirds seeds took forever to sprout! I even soaked the seeds in water for 24 hrs before planting. Weather was warm. Now at the end of August I finally have a few blooms which are all yellow! Not shades of pink as described! I wanted the pink, not yellow and that is what I thought I was buying! I will never buy from these people again, it was a rip off!

Poor germination rate 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I planted a package of the yellow-flowering vine and a packet of the blushing Susie at the same time in the same planting mix. The yellow ones had an 80% germination rate, but of the 10 Susie seeds, only 3 germinated. They have not bloomed yet.

No different than black eye susan vine 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I sure was looking forward to Blushing Susan. I ordered both Black eye and Blushing Susan. Unfortunately the flower colors on both varieties are the same color...orange and brown. Is the description inaccurate or did I, like some other posters, receive mislabeled seeds? On top of that the seeds were more expensive than Black Eye susan, and I ended up with the same thing. I think Park's needs to look into this. Sign me, Truly disappointed.

One lonely sprout 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I planted these seeds in the same conditions I’ve grown black eyed Susan vines before (peat pot). This time, just ONE germinated and is now growing. I came back to bite the bullet and get another packet because it will be a lonely little plant all by itself, but now they’re sold out. Bummer. :( Guess I’ll have to pick up a different color and hope for the best but I really wanted at least three of this color for my hanging basket.

Planted as directed, grew quickly. Could have been fuller, but had a hot summer - may have been a hinderance. Sweet addition to mailbox (w/small trellis). Adorbs! Will order again in spring.

  20. Novice to growing from seed, yet very successful.

More than expected! 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I had very good luck with this plant. The seed germination was great, the plant "Overly" vigorous for where I put it. Much taller than 5ft. The colors were beautiful, started out darker shades in the flowers, fading to lighter before falling off. Love, love, love the foliage as it remained dark green and pest free all season. I would love to submit a photo or two. :-)

Labeled blushing susie, but not... 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

First and foremost, I specifically sought out and bought these seeds because I wanted this variety and could not find a plant. I received the order quickly and everything appeared to be what I purchased. The seeds grew easy enough in the bio dome, but being a novice, only 2 of the 8 I grew lived past the 4 leaf stage. My remaining plants recently started blooming and SURPRISE, they are NOT blushing susies at all. They are the standard orange color with black center that I can find at many florists in my area. I am SO disappointed. I would have been a future customer, but even for $3.50, I expect to get what I purchase. I now cannot trust that I will receive the appropriate seeds and will not purchase from this company in the future. I would submit pictures, but there is no option on mobile to do so.

Only OK, and not "blushing" 0 people found this helpful

Started easily, and plants are nice looking, although kind of delicate, don't hold up to heat well. Not all that many flowers, and they are yellow, not at all pink or apricot or "blushing." So disappointing.

Exactly as described on the package. 0 people found this helpful

This is the first year that I have grown this plant. I started them inside about 4 weeks before planting outside. It is beautiful. The leaves are spectacular all by themselves. The bugs must not like them. My Morning Glories look like swiss cheese. The flowers are exactly the colors as described on the package over all a very beautiful interesting plant. Perfect height for my mailbox. Would have loved being able to submit a photo.

It is mid May and I am getting my first few blooms and I am enjoying it immensely. I can't wait until the whole vine is covered in color. I 100% recommend the blushing susie...easy to grow too.
