Description / Rosa Brigadoon

You may think these bright coral, high-centered blooms with a cream reverse are gorgeous when they first unfurl, but just wait until they start to mature. This 1992 All-American Rose Selections award-winning hybrid tea's blooms only get better with age, deepening in intensity and prolonging the show long after others have faded. They open from long, pointed, ovoid buds, reaching a full 5 inches across. Packed with up to 35 petals, they exude a light to moderate spicy aroma that puts the icing on the cake. The blooms arise in flushes throughout the season. Remove spent blossoms to encourage rebloom.

The robust growth of this upright, well-branched, disease-resistant shrub makes it a necessity for anyone who likes to enjoy their garden more than maintain it. It reaches 3 to 4 feet tall and just about as wide, with a thick covering of large, semigloss, leathery, dark green foliage that lasts all summer long.

Brigadoon is a versatile rose, proving beautiful and easy to grow in beds, borders, or containers. And of course, it's great in the cut garden as well.

Plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Spring pruning should include the removal of old canes and dead or diseased wood. Also, cut back canes that cross over each other. If you live in a warm climate, cut back the remaining canes by about one third. Colder areas will probably require a bit more pruning than that. Provide spring freeze protection, and if grown in a container, winter protection.
