All-America Selections (AAS) Winner 2018

This lovely globe shaped beefsteak type tomato is firm and fleshy. Disease resistant with a beautiful red color and dark leaves, this tomato is perfect for tomato lovers and gardeners who love to cook.

These scar free fruits have a beautiful well behaved form. It's the perfect balance between acid and sugar. Great for slicing.

Chef's Choice Red is a heavy producer. Expect nearly 2 dozen fruits from every plant. This is a vigorous, tall, well-branched vining plant, prepared to keep the fruit coming all season and in need of good support for its huge tomatoes. Easily 5 feet high before the season is over, it offers great foliage protection for the fruit against the punishing effects of the summer sun.

Part of the reason for the productivity of this tomato is its superior disease resistance. Chef's Choice Red stands up to tobacco mosaic virus, resists cracking, and is not troubled by anthracnose. Healthier plants mean better growth and bigger crops, not to mention more lush foliage.

Start seeds indoors 5 to 6 weeks before the last frost date. Plant outdoors when danger of frost is past and night temperatures consistently remain above 55 degrees Fahrenheit. If an unexpected late frost is forecasted, protect young plants with plastic sheeting or other cover. Set plants 2 to 2½ feet apart.

Disease Resistance: F1/V

These tomatoes are perfect in my opinion. I bought them because they are disease resistant, and we live in Florida where the summers are brutal with lots of bugs. They are exactly as described and I can’t get over the incredible flavor. It’s like the tomatoes we grew up with and great texture. Purchasing more today so I can plant them year-round.

I Grew these from seed. These tomato plants have been extremely healthy and the tomatoes are big 8-10 ounces! They are delicious and have produced all through summer and well into September. We will be growing them again for sure!

Wrong seeds? 0 people found this helpful

I bought the chef’s choice black for last two years and liked it very much. So I decided to try the red one this year. We are expecting the beef steak type but it turned out to be cherry tomatoes (red already). I suspect that the wrong type of seed were put into Chef’s Choice bag.

Strong Producer and Great Flavor 0 people found this helpful

Of all the tomatoes I grew last year, this one is the only one I will grow again. Easier than an heirloom and production right till frost set in. It was easy to grow from seed and once it got growing, it consistently produced.

wrong tomato seed 0 people found this helpful

Wrong tomato seed sent. Lot # SD18120011, item #52825. Tomato looks more like a plum or roma. It is not a round chefs choice red. I guess quality control in not part of Park Seed.

Wrong Seed in Packet? 0 people found this helpful

Small red pear like tomatoes were produced from these seeds. The name and item number on the packet matched the Chef’s Choice advertisement yet the the fruit resulting from the seeds were obviously not the Chef’s Choice tomato as pictured.
