I love Cosmos and intrigued by the unusual shape of this one. So, I planted a dozen tiny seedlings into jiffy pots in March, transplanted to garden in late May. At that time they were about 4-5 inches tall. "Critters" got some, intense heat got more, one survived. By mid-September it was about 8-10 inches tall and still hadn't bloomed, just hanging out between a shasta daisy in glorious, continuous bloom, and a very prolific cherry tomato. Yesterday, Oct 17, it was about 12 inches and had buds about to bloom. With a freeze predicted, I dug and potted it, brought it inside. Maybe I'll have some Cosmos by Thanksgiving. I'll try again next year but very envious of those who enjoyed weeks/months of bloom.

I bought these seeds twice 2 years in a row. Never came up. Others did but not these. Wasted my money. Won't buy them again.

Awful 0 people found this helpful

I have never had a poor experience with Park Seed. The packaging indicates the seeds are from a Japanese grower, so I won't blame my Parks people. Germinated easily, bloomed soonest, but looked nothing like photo. Looked like a muddy white/ pink daisy. No cupcake effect.

No saucers and late bloom 0 people found this helpful

This plant didn’t take off until late summer. When it did bloom, it was only the petaled flower and there were no saucers as shown.

Plentiful, Strong Plants 3 people found this helpful

These are beautiful. I started them in jiffy pots in February and I’m getting about 5-10 stems a day in early June! At first they look like your typical cosmo, but after about a month of flowering, I’m getting the distinctive cupcake liners with a flower in the middle. So many beautiful colors - from white to a dark mauve. They last over a week in the vase too! The plants do get rather tall and bushy so make sure you have plenty of space for them.
