Unbeatable disease resistance makes it easy to grow.
If you have an empty planter or a few feet of bare, sunny garden space, you can grow delicious bell peppers all summer long with Cutlass. This exciting variety is compact enough for containers, and has an interesting fruit set pattern: instead of the peppers arising in waves, they set continuously, so there are always a few fruit ripening on the vine.
Cutlass is a sweet bell, with blocky, thick-walled fruit up to 3½ inches wide and long. Pick it green or let it fully ripen to red; either way the flavor is juicy and sweet with just a hint of spice. Delicious.
Cutlass gets its vigor from a disease resistance package that is superior to none. Among others, it stands up to tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), and bacterial leaf spot races, 5, 7, 8, and 9. Its generous foliage cover offers great sunscald protection for the fruit. Heat and humidity are no problem. All in all, this is a diminutive powerhouse that you can rely on for big crops in less space every time.
Start seeds indoors or, in climate with short growing seasons, outdoors at least one week after last frost. If starting indoors, allow 7 to 10 weeks for the seeds to mature into seedlings large enough to transplant safely. Set seedlings (or thin direct-sown seedlings) 2 feet apart in full sun. If planting many seedlings, space rows about 3 feet apart. Fertilize when the blooms appear, and water well.
