Description / Dreams™ Appleblossom Petunia Seeds

Days to Maturity: 70 to 84

Dreams™ Appleblossom Petunia, a single grandiflora type variety, is a tender perennial (Zones 10-11), often grown as an annual, offering spring through summer interest. Free flowering, this petunia sets large, showy, pale pink blooms with a yellow eye. The fragrant flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

An herbaceous plant, Dreams™ Appleblossom Petunia has an upright, mounded, well-branched habit. It's perfect in containers, window boxes, and hanging baskets but makes great edging or groundcover in beds and borders. Planted alongside perennials and vegetables, petunias repel asparagus beetles, leafhoppers, tomato worms, a range of aphids, and many other pests.

Easy to grow, Dreams™ Appleblossom prefers full sun to light shade and average, medium moisture, well-drained soil. It tolerates poor soils and is virtually disease and pest free and deer resistant. Although petunias are low maintenance plants, pinching off the tops of established plants results in bushier plants with a heavier bloom, and deadheading regularly encourages and prolongs flowering. Cutting back plants that have declined in summer heat promotes a later bloom as temperatures cool.

Direct sow petunia seed after the last frost and as soon as the soil is warm in spring, or start seeds indoors 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost and transplant after all threat of frost has passed.

If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.

This seed comes as a pellet. Pelleted seeds are small seeds that have been clay-coated to make them larger and more uniform in size and shape, making them easier to handle when planting.

I am surprised at the negative reviews. This was my favorite petunia I grew last year. The color was beautiful and it performed all summer. Can’t wait to grow again this year!

I started them indoors and every seed germinated. They bloomed beautifully for months. They were popular with deer but always rebloomed after being eaten.

I bought these for window boxes around my porch, thinking the fragrance would be pleasing. Had no trouble growing them but they are not fragrant.

I love petunias 0 people found this helpful

I honestly can’t remember the germination rate, as I don’t keep that detailed of notes, but it was high as I have quite a few plants. They are lovely, they are such a pretty soft pink; they do have a scent, which I think could increase as the summer goes on. I can’t get these at local nurseries so super pleased to have thes beauties

I planted 5 of the seeds from the packet, and they all germinated. I now have 5 beautiful, healthy, robust petunias. I really love this color. I wish Park Seeds carried the salmon color in the Dreams series.

3 of the pelletized seeds did not germinate. The ones that did look healthy, so far. Way to early to give more information.

The seeds dud bit sprout well on the first order. I purchased again, same results way less than 50 percent germanation. I hqve planted these before and had great germanation. Will not order again as these seeds are expensive. I am an experience grower with a nice green house and professional growing skillks.
