Description / Dwarf White Sugar Snow Pea Seeds

50 days from direct-sowing.

Grow more peas in less space with economical, delectable Dwarf White Sugar! Very early to harvest and quite heavy-bearing, this compact plant offers sweet, tender pods just a few inches long.

Pick the flat pods at just 2 to 2½ inches long for succulent, stringless flavor. Very heavy-bearing plants climb about 30 inches up a trellis or pea fence, setting big yields every inch of the way. You will love how productive these fast-growing little plants can be.

Easy to grow, peas love cold weather, so plant the seeds directly into the garden (they do not like to be transplanted) as soon as the soil can be worked in the spring. One to two weeks before the last anticipated spring frost is a good rule of thumb for planting time. Sow the seeds 1 to 2 inches apart and 1 to 1½ inches deep. In warmer areas, peas are also ideal as a fall crop started in late summer.

To conserve space and simplify harvesting, sow in double rows with a trellis between rows. Help the young vines to begin climbing up the fence or trellis as soon as they are able. Snow peas are a delicious treat in stir-fries, soups, and as a stand-alone side dish. Add Dwarf White Sugar to your vegetable patch this season!

Heavy Yields 0 people found this helpful

Grow this variety by planting seeds 2-3" apart on both sides of a 30" trellis. Fast germination, heavy yields, great taste. Harvested from late May-July 5th. Stringless growth early, and then a few strings do appear late in season.

So glad Park's still sells this 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

I haven't seen this pea for sale anywhere else except Seed Savers' Exchange. I have been growing this variety I get from Park's for probably 30 years. Until I started growing it in a greenhouse twenty years ago, I had no idea the pea flowers are scented! This pea is so productive for me, is fast growing to almost four feet tall (only in the greenhouse), and gives off a really sweet fragrance as it blooms. It has a spot in the greenhouse every year from February to July, or until the cucumber plants take over the trellis they are growing on. Some years I don't have to re-plant the pea, as it manages to drop seeds and volunteer the following spring very nicely. It is a crisp, tasty, and early snow pea that NEVER makes it into the house as a stir fry ingredient or a dipper snack. Everyone who visits picks on the plants to the very last pod!

Much taller than expected 0 people found this helpful

The pea pod are delicious and prolific, but my plants are now over 5 feet tall- not what I expected from a "dwarf" variety.

Neither Dwarf nor stringless 0 people found this helpful

My plants are now over 5 feet tall, and the pods are not stringless. While they are delicious and prolific, I was rather surprised when they grew past the 4 foot support fence.

Fast Growing, Healthy, Hearty, Productive Snow Pea 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

These Dwarf White Sugar Snow Peas from Park Seed grew super-fast to a maximum height of 30 inches. The productivity is outstanding... and delicious! This variety is more cold-hearty and healthy compared to the other varieties of snow peas I planted.
