Description / Esprit Mix Penstemon Seeds

One of the largest-flowered and most colorful Penstemons yet, Esprit Mix offers a range of pink-, red-, and purple-toned blooms with crisp white eyes. Esprit Mix Penstemon blooms the first year from seed if started early, it can be raised as an annual everywhere Esprit Mix Penstemon isn't hardy, and is quite drought-tolerant once established in the garden.

Esprit Mix Penstemon offers 2-inch tubular blooms crowded along tall, very long-lasting stems. In flower the plant reaches 24 to 30 inches high in the sunny garden, a magnet for butterflies and bees. Native to the Great Plains, this happy-go-lucky perennial loves dry soil and doesn't mind poor fertility, heat, or other stresses.

Spreading about a foot wide, Esprit Mix Penstemon is a fine choice for containers as well as the sunny border. The foliage is silvery-green and held well below the blooms, in neat rosettes. Evergreen in mild climates, this is a hardy native plant you shouldn't miss.

I wintersowed these plants, and had a great germination rate. I had some blooms, and am looking forward to seeing what these plants do their second year. They are in planters, as well as the landscape in various areas in my yard.

The plants that came from these seeds were not Penstemon 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I had five plants which sprouted and survived to become viable plants last summer. They did not bloom, but I planted them in the ground last fall hoping for bloom this year. They came back, but the five plants I have still have not flowered and do not in any way resemble any penstemon plants I have ever seen.
