Far and away the largest-flowered scabiosa of all, the Fama series offers double blooms that begin in midsummer and just keep going, often into autumn in warm climates. Superb as cut flowers (they last a week or more in the vase), these blooms open on 12-inch stems above 8-inch-high dense, tufted, bright green foliage that looks good even when not in flower. The flowers reach 3 to 4 inches wide, with intense lilac blue hues. This plant loves sunshine, needing shade only in the hottest parts of the country, and once established can survive periods of drought with very little trouble.
Fama Deep Blue reaches 12 to 18 inches wide, and should be deadheaded promptly to encourage the next flush of gorgeous blooms. Give it well-drained soil, pamper it the first season to get its roots established, and you're off and running. And if you like Fama Deep Blue, you must also try its white sister.

Beautiful Blue 0 people found this helpfulI sowed the seed in Spring ‘22, and planted them into my garden late Fall ‘22. They did not bloom last year, but they have started blooming this May and are a beautiful large (compared to other scabiosa I’ve grown), purple/blue bloom with nice long stems. Definitely worth the wait!

For best blue Scabiosa caucasica, 'Fama' deep blue, is a must have! 1 people found this helpfulI've had 'Fama' from Parks, grown from seeds & was highly satisfied. I'm certain these will be even more blue than the old 'Fama', now that it has been re-selected, I'll be even more impressed. Germination has been excellent & taken only several days in the warmth of early September. I know I'll be extremely pleased, with even darker blue blooms, by next summer.
