- Description / Fig Chicago Hardy- For many years, gardeners in colder climates may have abandoned their desire to grow figs due to harsher winter weather - well that issue has been solved! Meet 'Hardy Chicago', a fig that happily thrives in zones 5-10. - Native to the Mediterranean, this is one of the most cold hardy fig trees available to the home gardener. It bears beautiful, medium sized fruits on older wood beginning in early summer and on new growth in early fall. It also has shown good performance when grown in a large container and proves to be very drought tolerant. - Producing up to 100 pints of fruit at full maturity, and requires little maintenance to thrive. Just make sure to water it regularly in warmer months.
