Description / Georgia Collards Seeds
Days to Maturity: 80 days
A beloved favorite for many years, Georgia is tops for tender, moist bite and reliably heavy yields. The non-heading plants reach 30 to 36 inches tall, producing abundantly, and the greens are unsurpassed for fresh-collard taste.
Georgia has become the industry standard thanks to its frost tolerance, heavy production of blue-green heads tightly packed with delectable leaves, and ease of cultivation. Adaptable to many climates, it's the true-blue reliable variety you can always count on!
Collards are wonderfully tolerant of both heat and cold; in fact, their flavor is sweetened by a little frost. Sow seeds directly in early spring or in late summer for a fall crop; or start indoors 5 to 7 weeks before setting out. If you want tall plants with full-sized leaves to harvest all at once space the seedlings 15 inches apart. For smaller plants with leaves that can be picked as they arise, space them just 6 to 8 inches apart.
