Description / Hibiscus Lil Kim® Red

Just when you thought there was nothing new under the sun, along comes a dwarf rose of Sharon with a super long bloom time and great adaptability. Just as robust as its larger cousins but a fraction of the size, Hibiscus Lil Kim® Red is a delight for containers, hedges, borders, and foundations.

From early summer all the way into fall, masses of 3-inch pink blooms arise, each with a dark red to magenta blotch at the center. Nicely ruffled, they are profuse all summer long and into autumn, stopped only by really chilly weather. You can't find a better "bloom machine" to show off along the driveway, on the south side of the house, or on the patio.

Just 3 to 5 feet tall and 2 to 4 feet wide, Hibiscus Lil Kim® Red is a fraction of the size of most other rose of Sharons, yet is so well-branched and floriferous that Hibiscus Lil Kim® Red matches them easily in flower power. Impervious to heat, humidity, and drought, Hibiscus Lil Kim® Red also a good choice for urban streetside plantings, for it isn't bothered by pollution. And Hibiscus Lil Kim® Red even tolerates poor soil, provided it is moist.

Hibiscus Lil Kim® Red is a plant to show off in any sunny garden spot or fine container. Hibiscus Lil Kim® Red makes a fine poolside planting, a lovely specimen in a small space, and a border standout. Get creative with its tropical look and low-maintenance care this season.

Disappointed, did not survive zone 5a 0 people found this helpful
Lovely small shrubs arrived and thrived last summer but sadly did not survive a milder than usual winter.

Took me awhile to plant until it was below 90degrees. But about two days after being in the ground it bloomed. Guess it's happy.

I have two of these, and one came with buds!! I left it in the pot until it bloomed. I was surprised - the color was a purple-pink, with a slightly darker eye. I'll have to wait until next year to see if the flowers become this pretty bi-color. Still pretty, just not what I was expecting.

I have two of these, and one, still in it's original pot, has had blooms. Lovely, except the blooms are more of a purply-pink with the red eye! No white whatsoever! It will be interesting to see what the other one does, but I don't expect any blooms on it this year.
