Description / Hibiscus 'Mars Madness' Rose Mallow

If falling in love with 'Mars Madness' is crazy, we don't want to be sane. This statuesque beauty presents massive, deep cerise blooms from midsummer into early fall, seamlessly extending the season of beauty in your garden with its unrivaled visual impact.

Unlike similar plants, the showy 6- to 8-inch blossoms of this rose mallow cover the plant from top to bottom for a solid display that keeps you staring. Even its midnight green leaves, which emerge coppery purple in spring, add a note of dramatic color contrast to the bright billowing flowers.

'Mars Madness' is deer resistant, fast-growing, and a magnet for hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators. It thrives in full sun, but can tolerate dappled shade and needs plenty of consistent water for it to enjoy a long healthy life in the garden. Introduce this selection of the native American hibiscus into your landscape and let it transport you to a floral fantasyland.

Sold Me a Dead Plant 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

Bought this from Park bc my mom used to get seeds and roses from here bc the weather was right but local garden center didn’t have it in stock. Big mistake. I got the bare root plant, packaged in a plastic sleeve with no moisture, just a little paper padding in the box. The roots were knotted and had no feeders annd very very dry. Also no real crown. I soaked 20 minutes per directions, then potted in something roomy but not huge. Didn’t think it would survive so wasn’t dedicating garden space to it. It’s been 3 weeks and no signs of life. Disappointed doesn’t beg to say it,

I ordered this last year, planted the next day after receiving it, watered, but it didn't even attempt to grow.
