Description / Honeymoon Deep Red Hibiscus Seeds

Destined to be the showpiece of any setting, this magnificent new Hibiscus wows with 6- to 8-inch blooms of the deepest, most velvety red ever seen in the family. Wide, rounded, overlapping petals are neatly pleated and gently ruffled at the tips, which are slightly darker, as if outlining the bloom for greater effect. There has never been a Hibiscus like Honeymoon!

Best of all, this plant is quite compact, so you can grow it in patio containers as well as the sunny border -- but for all its smaller size, it sets masses of big, dinner-plate-sized flowers! The blooms begin swirling open when the first warm weather of summer arrives, and continue until the chilly temperatures of fall nip them back. You will be amazed at the flower power.

Expect Honeymoon Deep Red to reach 24 to 30 inches high and nearly as wide (20 to 24 inches is the average). A very quick grower, it's easy to sow right in the soil in spring or fall -- or begin it indoors and then transplant as soon as the soil is warm and the seedlings have at least 2 sets of true leaves. Hibiscus thrives in full sunshine, loves heat, and doesn't mind drought. However, it does best in moist soils, and even tolerates damp, poorly-draining sites. Versatile and foolproof, Honeymoon is the perfect choice for your garden and patio!

Absolutely amazing 0 people found this helpful

This is the first year for my seedlings. The plants continue to mature and provide the 6-8 inch flowers, initially one at a time and now, in August, several simultaneously. I have them placed at several vantage points. My husband usually does not remark about my plants and now a daily proclamation regarding to how amazing the flowers appear.

Out of the five seeds only one germinated. 0 people found this helpful

Obviously they were all under the same conditions, however only one of the five seeds germinated. Slow grower after coming up. Holding out hope I get at least one pretty perennial plant for my money.

3/5 Germination rate 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I love deep red flowers and the color of this hibiscus was very appealing. The seeds seemed a bit pricey ($6 for 5 seeds) but I figured the germination rate would be high. I have to say I was a bit disappointed that of the six seeds that were actually in the packet, only three germinated. Hopefully the plants will be strong and the gorgeous flowers will be worth it. I probably wouldn’t recommend this product.

Perfect Seeds, So Far So Good 0 people found this helpful

I soaked these seeds over night and then planted them per instructions. They started to pop through the soil after only 4 days!!! Amazing!! They are still little, but with the warmer weather coming, I hope they grow fast. If they are as pretty as the photo depicts, they will be show stoppers.

Started seed in spring, planted out in fall, came back next spring and bloomed. Blooms fragile and short lived but beautiful. Beetles ate all the leaves. I hope neem spraying will correct this year

The seed germinates well. The plants grow well in heat and drought once established and deer don't like them. The color is gorgeous.
