Horseradish, either grated fresh or mixed with vinegar and cream for the famous sauce, is a popular condiment with a distinctive bite. It can accompany dishes ranging from roast beef to deviled eggs. Now you can easily grow your own horseradish plants and harvest the thick, knobby, cream-colored roots.
This upright perennial's large, 20-inch, ovate, bright green leaves stand straight up, allowing the plant to reach 1 to 4 feet high and spread 1 to 3 feet wide. Insignificant white flowers appear in terminal racemes in early summer.
Because our horseradish roots already have a year under their belts, they are quick to establish in your own garden. Grow in any well-drained, rich soil in full sun. Horseradish can become invasive, like mint, so it also works well as a container plant. Harvest the roots in fall and store them until use in damp sand.

Horseradish Root 0 people found this helpfulThis came 3 to an order with no instructions. I looked up how to plant them online and instructions said to plant vertically with shoots pointing up. In the absence of shoots, I planted it horizontally and am continuing to water it in hopes it will sprout. After a month, I am losing hope.

Bought this and Rhubarb 0 people found this helpfulNothing sprouted from the horseradish or rhubarb I bought through parkseed. I bought some horseradish on ebay and some rhubarb from an Amish lady and both are thriving, clearly the problem wasn't me the grower.

Don’t Buy 0 people found this helpfulI ordered this product last Spring and received three tiny desiccated horseradish roots. I ent ahead and planted them and nothing grew. Save your money and buy a quality product from another source.

Itty Bitty Roots 0 people found this helpfulThey're showing a picture of these larger roots, but you will get 3 roots that are roughtly less than 1cm in diameter and no longer than 10cm in length. Absolutely look elsewhere to buy for your $$$.
