A dwarf variety, Hosta 'Munchkin Fire' is an herbaceous perennial offering summer interest. Grown for its ornamental foliage, this miniature hosta has short, narrow, bright yellow leaves that hold their color all season long. Borne on long scapes, lily-like lavender flowers bloom in early to midsummer, attracting hummingbirds.
Highly versatile, Hosta 'Munchkin Fire' has a petite, upright habit and a medium growth rate. Tolerant of air pollution, it grows well in containers in city environments. But it's shown to best effect when grouped or massed in beds and borders, and it makes nice edging.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, Hosta 'Munchkin Fire' prefers full to dappled shade and rich, moist, well-drained soil. Plants should not be allowed to dry out. Sun tolerant and slug resistant.
