Description / Hula™ Pink Begonia Seeds

Begonia Hula™ Pink is a Begonia interspecific variety, commonly called interspecific begonia or spreading begonia. A tender perennial, typically grown as an annual, Hula Pink is a highly branched spreading begonia that quickly fills landscape beds and containers. Daylength neutral, it is the earliest interspecific type to flower, covering its graceful cascades of lush, shiny foliage in masses of pretty pink blossoms from late spring to late summer, putting on a fabulous season-long show, which often lasts well into autumn.

Hula Pink's gorgeous trailing habit is perfect for tall mixed containers or hanging baskets, from which its arching stems can overflow and elegantly drape. But it is also beautiful in landscapes, where it blankets beds in brilliant color.

Tough, durable, and low-maintenance plants, interspecific begonias grow best in dappled sun to partly sunny locations with rich, organic, moist, well-draining soils.

Start begonia seeds indoors 8 to 12 weeks before the last frost date and transplant. If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.

This seed comes as a pellet. Pelleted seeds are small seeds that have been clay-coated to make them larger and more uniform in size and shape, making them easier to handle when planting.

I thought these sounded so neat so I gave them a try. Planted 20 seeds, have four plants. Never tried starting begonias from seed before. Two look really good, other two still have a ways to go. I started these inside back on February 16th. I might take the bigger two and put them in hanging baskets so they have alittle more room to grow. This is all a work in progress and if I think of it I will update this post later.
