Description / Jaguar™ Mix Gerbera Daisy Seeds

If you love cutflowers, you MUST grow Gerbera Daisies, and Jaguar™ Mix Gerbera Daisy is the name you can always rely on for bright blooms and plenty of 'em. This highly uniform mix brings you blooms earlier and more heavily than any other, continuing nonstop all season.

You might be wondering what a "uniform" mix is (and whether or not it's a good thing.) In terms of plant varieties, uniformity is a great asset. Many times each color in a given series will bloom at a slightly different time, so you never really get a multicolored display. Other times, the colors will vary in terms of height, flower size, or bushiness, which can affect the appeal of the planting. But Jaguar™ Mix Gerbera Daisy is highly uniform in color, bloomtime, and size—you get all the bright shades of yellow, pink, red, blue, green, and white for which this series is known, blooming at exactly the same time on plants all 10 to 12 inches high and about 6 to 8 inches wide.

And Jaguar™ Mix Gerbera Daisy is not only uniform, it's very heavy-blooming. An individual plant can have up to 5 flowers open at once, and the blooms continue freely all summer. Cut or deadhead them promptly, and new buds spring up all the faster. No one ever complained about having too many Gerber Daisies, so this is quite an advantage.

Gerberas are heavy feeders, thriving in very well-enriched garden soils as well as containers. Make sure they get full sun, plenty of food, and consistent levels of water. They will repay you richly.

Sow the seeds uncovered (or dropped into the pre-drilled holes of the sponges in your Bio Dome at about 72 degrees Fahrenheit), or direct sow outdoors when the soil is thoroughly warm in spring. If starting indoors, the Jaguar™ Mix Gerbera Daisy Seeds should sprout within two weeks, and can be grown on at 72 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit with plenty of light and fairly high humidity. (Again, in the Bio Dome, leave the dome on, vents open, until the seedlings outgrow their space or become too crowded in the tray.) Transplant when the seedlings have at least two sets of true leaves and the soil is completely warm in spring. Or move them into their container with a good potting mix. From sowing to blooming, Jaguar™ Mix Gerbera Daisy Seeds should take between 18 and 24 weeks. So easy and so rewarding over a long midsummer into fall season. Hardy in zones 8-11, grown as an annual everywhere else.

Not worth the money 0 people found this helpful

I purchased and started 2 packs of 10 count Gerbera Daisy seeds. I have been planting flower and vegetable gardens for over 50 years, so I know how to start seeds. There was 0% germination. I just wasted $25. I'll never buy from Park Seed again.

I only had two sprout. Usually park seeds are very good but this is the second time I've tried these seeds and never had much luck.

Where are the Daisies? 0 people found this helpful

I, too, was disappointed with these seeds. Only 1/10 have germinated. I was hoping for at least half to make it more cost effective. Not sure what happened to this run of seeds, but it isn't looking too good.

Low germination rate 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

Only 3/10 seeds germinated. I expected not all seeds will germinate but this was very disappointing. I have never had this low a percentage with germination. Would of been cheaper to buy plant from nursery.

  7. Need to improve packaging 1 people found this helpful

Let me start by saying you have a beautiful catalog and the seeds I've purchased have done quite well. However, I really believe your company can improve on the packaging of the seeds, specifically the print. The print is often smeared, very difficult to read, and the 3 packs of Gerber daisy seeds I purchased were missing the first 2-3 lines of the instructions. Some of your competitors have much easier to read packages. Also, some of the packs where they were sealed and cut, the cut was not close to being straight which makes an unprofessional appearance. Great seeds, but for a company as old as this one, please improve your packaging. Thank you!

The perfect Gerbera Daisy 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

I love Gerbera Daisies, and I thought it might be a challenge to grow them from seed. Boy, was I wrong! I started the seeds indoors in early March, and within 2 weeks, ALL of the seeds had germinated! Their growth rate seemed to be a little slow at first, but once it had warmed up enough for me to move them outdoors, they really took off! By mid June, all were blooming! The flowers are about 3-4 inches across, and the colors are bright and vibrant. Unlike other Gerbera Daisies, which bloom for a limited time, these bloomed continuously throughout the entire summer, and each flower lasted for at least 2 weeks before declining. These plants are a little smaller than traditional Gerberas, 8-10 inches tall and wide, perfect for containers and window boxes. I will definitely be growing more of these!
