Leucophyllum Trailblazer® Silver Texas Sage

Leucophyllum Trailblazer® Silver Texas Sage pairs striking silver foliage with light purple flowers for color in sunny, hot gardens. Its dense evergreen growth keeps the foliage display present throughout the year, while flowers appear from summer to frost. Outstanding drought tolerance and deer resistance give this shrub practical appeal as well as a distinctive look. This selection is part of the Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Shrubs collection.

Use it in a low water garden where its silver leaves can be appreciated alongside other plants with similar needs. Buddleia and Choisya are verified companion suggestions for this selection. Its mature size reaches 5 feet tall and 5 feet wide, making those dimensions useful when arranging a group of shrubs. The dense habit brings a substantial foliage presence without relying on flowers alone.

Choose full sun and prioritize good drainage, which is essential for this Texas sage. It thrives in heat and has low water needs. The listed hardiness range is USDA Zone 7, with Zone 6b noted, through Zone 10. Selected by Jim Berry in Texas, this variety combines strong summer flowering with silver evergreen foliage. Its ability to tolerate drought while providing both foliage and flowers is a defining benefit for a sunny planting.
