Description / Merida Hybrid Carrot Seed Tape

Day to Maturity: 75

Want to get the carrots planted super-quick this season—with better spacing and more accuracy than you've ever had before? Rely on seed tape. There's no handling tiny seeds, thinning young plants, or worrying about holes. You literally lay these tissue-paper strips down on top of the soil where you want the plants to grow, cutting them to fit the space and arranging it in any pattern you like. Then rake or sprinkle about a half inch of soil on top of the seed tapes and water them in well. That's it—in a few weeks you'll see evenly-spaced, healthy green shoots that need no thinning.

Destined to be your favorite carrot in the garden, Merida Hybrid Carrot is a joy to grow, harvest, and especially eat. This Nantes type is ready more quickly than many other full-size varieties, and it offers wonderfully straight, blunt-ended roots of bright orange with almost no core and plenty of crisp, ultra-sweet flavor.

Merida Hybrid Carrot is ready for harvest when it's about 6 inches long, though it will grow an additional inch or more if you need to delay the picking. Juicy, straight, and very uniform, it's a good choice for canning because all the roots are so reliably the same size and shape. But these carrots taste so good, they might not make it into the Mason jar.

The green tops make harvesting easy, too. Unlike some varieties, these greens grow thick, straight, and tall, so you can just grab and pull up the root. Very strong, they are nutritious as well.

Includes: 5 meters (16 ft. 4.85 in.) of seed tape

Awesome carrot
Review by Cathy
The seed tape was so easy to use I felt like I was cheating. The carrots, though. Oh, my are they good. Straight and long, with some of them getting up to 12 inches long. My son calls the Bugs Bunny carrots, they're that perfect. We planted in August and I pulled the last of them on Christmas day. I've read elsewhere that you can plant these before the first frost and harvest in the late spring. I'll definitely try that in the fall.
Bugs Bunny would be proud
Review by Cathy
I planted these in my fall garden in a strip along the outside of my raised bed next to the tomatoes. The tape made the really easy, and boy, did they grow! I got a variety of sizes from little cuties up to almost 12" long and a good inch thick. These are super sweet and extremely prolific. I harvested all fall, pulling the smaller ones to let their neighbors grow. Then brought all the rest in on Christmas day. I'm in the Pittsburgh area, zone 6a/b
