This ingenious Sow Effortless Collection™ Organic Tricolor Romaine Blend lets you easily grow exactly what you need for the perfect salad.
This collection is cool season and can tolerate a slight frost. Lettuce and greens are best started outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked in early spring or late summer (for a fall crop). For those living in zones 8 and warmer, sow your seeds in early fall for a winter harvest. Using our Sow Effortless Collection™ Organic Tricolor Romaine Blend Seed Tape means succession planting is easy and every seed is used efficiently. Small seeds are trouble-free because they are pre-sown in biodegradable tape you place directly on the soil. Simply sprinkle to cover with soil and water them in.
As long as the temperature stays below 80 degrees Fahrenheit, you can keep making successive sowingsevery two weeks is typicalto extend your harvest. As summer approaches, however, you will want to plant varieties that tolerate heat and resist bolting (producing flowers and seeds too soon).

Lettuce Brun de Hiver: a bronze romaine with green colored stems and lover leaves. Has a unique foliage with mixed colors. These colors are lettuce, orange and a soft pink. The edges of the foliage changes. This lettuce has large heads and is a great grower.
You've never planted seeds more easily than with our Sow Effortless Collection™ that includes, in addition to tapes, mats, discs, and kits that have the seeds included, simply place them in the garden, lightly cover with soil, water regularly and enjoy. The tapes dissolve over time from watering.

No more fumbling tiny seeds 3 people found this helpfulOh my, it was so easy to plant lettuce this time. No tiny seeds to over plant, blow away, or wonder where I put them in the soil. If it's breezy, anchor down one end, then start placing the tape down. Tear off whenever you need to start a new row. Sprinkle some soil covering and water. You're done! My seeds have already started germinating. Park Seeds are the best!

robust, easy 2 people found this helpfulLive in southeastern Maine. Cooler here, direct sowed tape in late May. Lots of the lettuce germinated, had to move some to different rows for more space as grew. It is late July and this lettuce is still producing and still tasty. I've been cutting off leaves for salad for well over a month. Did put up a tulle-like material for lightly shading the lettuce during sunnier summer days. Watering these via a PVC irrigation (easy to make at home) so the bases of plants watered directly. Really pleased with this product. Plan to plant more if need late summer. So far, still have plenty.
