Indescribably elegant, the blooms on Park Seed Black Peony Poppy (new peony-flowered poppy) are just incredible in a large garden planting or indoor arrangement. Fully 4 to 5 inches across, they are jam-packed with ruffled, whorled petals of deepest maroon, so dark that they appear black.
Blooming begins in July, and is followed by handsome seedpods that are superb ornaments in dried arrangements. Park Seed Black Peony Poppy reaches 4 feet tall and spread 12 inches wide.
Park Seed Black Peony Poppy is extremely easy to grow. For early summer show, sow direct either in late fall, winter, or even early spring. Best in areas where summers are cool or dry; not a good choice for humid regions.

Dramatic dark blooms 3 people found this helpfulDramatic flowers for a gothy garden. I started the seeds in a Biodome in March. In mid-April, I put the starts in a raised bed that gets lots of sun; I used a row cover to protect them from late PNW frosts. The plants grew to about 5 feet tall and by June began blooming massive deep purple/almost black flowers with loads of petals, almost like a peony. The blooms last quite a while. The same bed includes a profusion of Park's Amazing Gray poppies, which are about half the height and have loads of blooms, and Fragrant Giant Nasturtiums. This is my first successful attempt at growing poppies. Very pleased!

Missing seeds 5 people found this helpfulBought at the end of last year to winter sow, was super excited to try this ruffly variety! But was super disappointed upon opening the pack. These seeds are already on the high end of what I spend on a newer variety to just try especially as there are not any reviews yet, so to also be shorted by 25% (73 seeds in the packet of 100) is sad. I get a few over/under since these are sooo small, but to be short that much?

100 seeds? 4 people found this helpfulI sincerely doubt that that was 100 seeds. They're too small to count. Regardless, you get many, many more seeds for your buck from other suppliers.
