Description / Park Seed Sweet Rainbow Mix Pepper Seeds

Days to Maturity: 65 to 70

Now you can enjoy sweet bell peppers in all the glorious colors and flavors available today—without paying expensive supermarket prices for "gourmet" peppers or buying half a dozen packets of seed.

We have hand-blended, exclusively for Park customers, a mix of the finest variety of each color. Consisting of 5 hybrids and 2 open-pollinated types, this mix assures you of big, thick-walled, blocky bells in every color. We selected not only for appearance but uniform harvest time and superb disease resistance, so these varieties all mature within a week of one another and are vigorous garden performers. Economical and downright exciting, this is—in our opinion—the finest mix of sweet bells available anywhere.

Start Park Seed Sweet Rainbow Mix Pepper seeds indoors or, in climate with short growing seasons, outdoors at least one week after last frost. If starting indoors, allow 7 to 10 weeks for the seeds to mature into seedlings large enough to transplant safely. Set seedlings (or thin direct sown seedlings) 2 feet apart in full sun. If planting many seedlings, space rows about 3 feet apart. Fertilize when the blooms appear, and water well. Fruit is most colorful and nutritious if allowed to ripen on the plant (instead of being picked when green).

Best bell peppers ever 4 people found this helpful

These plants are very vigorous and have beautiful large colorful peppers on them. Never had great success with bell peppers till I tried these. No sense in trying something different these are awesome and my neighbors loved coming over just to look at them.

Pepper Gate!! 4 people found this helpful

I planted these seeds indoors last February. I transplanted to raised beds in May. To my surprise, they turned out to be a variety of peppers, not all Bell Peppers. In fact, I only had three actual Sweet Rainbow Bell from the 8 seedlings planted. In addition, I found a yellow bananas, red cherry bell and an unknown yellow pepper that I’m not familiar with. I planted them in rows so I could use Florida Weave to support them. It doesn’t work well because of the different plant size and shape. I’m giving 3 stars because they all grew healthy and strong, and, I am having fun with the new varieties. They are just not what I expected. I already harvested a purple and green bell, they are superb — thick walled and delicious. Love them!!

  3. Used to be great, the last two years have been not all bell peppers

Someone put cherry and banana peppers into this mix for two years running 7 people found this helpful

I've planted these Rainbow pepper seeds for about 12 years, but the last two years, a third to a quarter of my seedlings turned out to be cherry peppers. This year I also got a banana pepper in the mix! I don't use either of these kinds of peppers, and they take up a bunch of space in my tiny garden. And it's not like I can replant now! When the seeds come up, you can't really tell what kind of pepper they are and by the time it becomes clear that they aren't what you thought you ordered, your season is halfway gone! I was pissed at Parks for this last year and called them on it, but this year's seeds were the same! Nice to see they respond to complaints! I'm not going to fall for this again. If I buy from Park's again (a big if) it won't be peppers.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the frustration this has caused. We’ve shared your concerns with our seed team to investigate and address the issue. We completely understand how disappointing it is to put time and effort into your garden only to have unexpected results.
Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share it with us.

  4. Very Disappointed

Very poor germination in Biodome 2 people found this helpful

Half of my seeds failed to germinate. The seed down in the sponge hole too much for those that did. Little green spouts died in hole sponge. 20% that did actually germinate grew very slowly. 4 weeks later, just little 2 inch weaklings. Total fail for this year. I have maybe 5 seedlings I planted into small cups to grow until planting out. They are just 3" tall at 6 weeks. My tomato seedlings are 15" tall.

Nice peppers 2 people found this helpful

This is my first time growing these peppers. I grew 2 plants, one of which ended up surviving and in my raised bed. There have been 2 peppers harvested and both were sweet. My only disappointment with this variety is that I was under the impression that I would get different colored peppers from the same plant. So far all the peppers that have grown are purple in color. The peppers are beautiful but I was hoping for different colors from the same plant. Maybe that’s my mistake.
