Description / Park's Whopper II Hybrid Bell Pepper Seeds

Days to Maturity: 70 from transplant

It's back and even better than before. A customer favorite for many years, Park's Whopper bell pepper returns with better disease resistance, higher yields, and even more delicious fruit.

Fully 4-inches-across and 4-inches-long, this giant main-season bell is unsurpassed for appearance as well as taste. Inevitably drawing astonished stares in our trial gardens, the fruits have very thick walls and a sweet, juicy, crisp, and tender flavor perfect for raw or cooked eating.

Plants bear excellent yields, their foliage shielding the fruit from sunscald. As the peppers mature, they turn from bright green to red and the flavor sweetens still further. Resistant to tobamo po virus and bacterial leaf spot, Whopper II receives top ratings from Florida to California. We are proud to give it our stamp of approval, the high performer symbol.

Start seeds indoors. When all danger of frost is past, set seedlings out in the garden, spacing about 18 inches apart in direct sun.

  1. Best sweet pepper, if....

Best sweet pepper, poor germination, extremely slow growth 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

If you can find a way to start it very early in seed starter, and warmth, and get a few to germinate, it will grow very slow, but in the end, it has potential to produce a great pepper, and potential to be a huge disappointment!

Whopper is right! 1 people found this helpful

These peppers grew into some of the biggest bells I've EVER seen, let alone from "my" garden. Seeds started a bit late for my zone, so I really wasnt expecting a whole lot, but still wanted to see what the flavor. thickness and growth habits were like. Ive NEVER seen a pepper over a Pound! Let alone a pound and a half! Whoa! Since its a hybrid I didnt bother to save seeds, but will purchase again. If I could post a photo on this revew I would. 1.9lb!

Love these pepper, lovely plants and large peppers 1 people found this helpful

I grow bell peppers in my basement under lights, and this is one of my favorites. The plants are very productive and produce large peppers that are great for stuffing. When grown indoors, these plants can be productive for 3-5 years.

Beautiful plants. Poor germination rate, 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I grow a number of veggies indoors under LED lights, and bell peppers is one of them. From a packet of 25 seeds, 7 germinated. The seeds that did grow are now about 18 tall and very full plants. They have a number of flowers on them, and some of the plants have developing pepper. I am anxious to see how well they produce and the size of the peppers. I currently have other bell pepper plants that are over 2 years old and still producing. I hope these plants do as well.

Poor germination rate 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I bought these seeds because I have bought them in the past and liked them. Although i don't expect 100% germination, only 2 of the 15 seeds in the packet germinated. Since these seeds cost $.46 each, I think this germination rate is very poor.

Terrible germination rate 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I bought these seeds and planted all of them knowing full well they would not all germinate. Of the 15 seeds, only 2 germinated and grew. In my opinion, this makes these seeds very expensive.

This pepper is one of my main choices for a bell type pepper. I was glad that it became available again last year. It was not available for several years.
