Description / Penny™ Purple Picotee Viola Seeds

A brilliant picotee Penny, so charming three seasons out of the year. America's favorite viola, Penny™ Purple Picotee Viola delights with bright colors and unbelievable hardiness. Give this tiny gem a try for just one season, and then come back for a dozen more packets in every color.

Penny™ Purple Picotee Viola is a true perennial, usually the first viola to bloom in spring, before the frost is completely gone from the ground. Very free-blooming, it scatters these charming lavender-blue and white "faces" freely above the deep green leaves, welcoming another season of beauty into the garden.

Very tolerant of heat, Penny is a great choice for southern and western gardens, where spring can give way suddenly to climbing temperatures and an early summer. And this tough-as-nails perennial doesn't mind a touch of frost—it's all in a day's work for Penny.

This Penny™ Purple Picotee Viola plant is just 4 to 6 inches high and 6 to 8 inches wide, perfect for neat accents, mass plantings, and overflowing containers.

not as pictured - came out dark purple with black center 0 people found this helpful

I bought these a year or two ago (3 packets) and now that I finally grew them, they do not match the advertised description at all. Very disappointing as I wanted a light color with white center as pictured. What I got was a dark purple with a black center and yellow streaks - like the common pansy.

I have some thriving in both full and part sun, some of them survived some pretty rough transplant conditions but they're flourishing. They're tough and beautiful!

I started the seeds late last summer and it looks beautiful now in full bloom in February here in S. California. The color is somewhat variable but is pretty close to what is pictured.
