Description / Perma-Nest Plant Trays and Humidity Domes

Sturdy, washable, and endlessly re-usable, Perma-Nest Trays are the mainstay of professional greenhouses, and now they are available to the home gardener. These trays can be used as seed flats, seedling growth trays, and containers for potted plants being grown under lights indoors. And they're perfect for growing microgreens. Match them with optional fitted humidity domes for even easier, more successful indoor growing.

The straight, high sides of these trays are ideal for filling with enough growth medium (such as Fafard's seed-starting mix) to allow seedlings to develop strong, healthy root systems before setting out. They also enable you to start larger seeds, those with taproots, and even small bulbs.

Best of all, Perma-Nest Trays never rot or rust. They resist cracking and breaking, standing up to cold weather and heavy soil-and-seedling loads beautifully. When it's time to store them, they wash clean in a trice and stack neatly to save space. The plastic allows tape to adhere, so you can label (and then easily remove) your plants. Growers have trusted Perma-Nest for decades, and we believe you will too.

Perma-Nest Trays are sold in multiples, and each tray has a corresponding humidity dome (sold in identical multiples, so you never have an unmatched part.) These clear plastic domes are the secret to increasing humidity and improving the germination and growth potential of your seeds. You may have placed plastic bags or wrap over seed flats in the past to achieve this, but the removable dome is much easier and more reliable. You can prop it open on one side to gradually reduce humidity levels, and the high arch enables you to use it even with tall, quick-growing seedlings. If your house is cool or you want to start seeds requiring high levels of humidity, be sure to get the domes to match your Perma-Nest Trays.

Several sizes are available. Here are the specifications:

Perfect size 0 people found this helpful

I have the medium sized trays with the humidity domes. I use them for propogating my african violet leaves and they are just about perfect. They hold the humidity just right, and hold a good number of leaves and baby plants, letting them grow well, and are tall enough to grow up and get strong enough to get out of the greenhouse. They last well, clean up well, and are perfect size for shelves in the house.

Best essential for gardening 0 people found this helpful

I come from a family of gardeners and my mother has used these for many decades. It's the first thing I bought when I started doing my own gardening and they are the best, strongest and sturdiest most versatile gardening trays!

Perfect when I want to start just a couple of one variety particularly when it might be a specialty seed. Also fits on a window sill. Sturdy and water tight.

Best plant trays ever 0 people found this helpful

Worth every penny. No more flimsy plant trays. I can load these and pick up a tray without it twisting and dumping seedlings.

Heavy duty awesome 0 people found this helpful

These trays are very heavy duty. When it’s time to harden off my seedlings they are excellent support for taking them outside. The domes are strong as well. I have also used them as trays! I wash and store them at the end of the season.

Domes do not fit the trays 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

The trays are good quality, heavy duty and should last for a long time. However, the domes do not fit on these trays. They are too short and do not make a good seal or any seal at all. They are marketed as a match for the trays so I find this falsely advertised. The company also shipped 3 medium trays and 3 medium domes in a box 3' by 2' absolutely filled with styrofoam peanuts and wrapped the plastic trays in so much bubble wrap you would think they were protecting fine china from a drop down a flight of stairs. I did call to complain but the gal on the phone simply defended the practice. Very disappointed. We are gardeners and care a great deal bout the natural world. There are biodegradable alternatives for shipping protection. I hope Park reconsiders their shipping policies because otherwise I just can't order anything but seeds from them anymore and do not support the use of styrafoam and that much single use plastic just for shipping.

Not nearly as sturdy as I'd hoped! 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I've used these trays for many years. They are good, but not well designed from the standpoint of breakage. If there is much weight in them, be sure to use two hands -- the flanges will snap off or the tray will crack vertically down the side wall. IMO a better radius on the flange or several small gussets would solve much of the problem. They also degrade from sunlight. That said, they are better than most others and with care will last a long time.
