Description / Nectar Hybrid Sweet Corn Seeds

Days to Maturity: 76

Nectar corn is part of the innovative QuadSweets™ line, the latest generation of sweet corn hybrids. It merges the superior qualities of both super sweet and sugary enhanced varieties, creating a sweet, flavorful experience. QuadSweets hybrids are not only easy to grow but also deliver outstanding flavor, blending modern sweetness with the nostalgic taste of heirloom corn.

Nectar is a good size plant at 74 inches and has a nice 30-inch ear height. The 8-inch ears have a 1.8-inch diameter with 18 rows of bicolor yellow and white kernels. The ears have a very nice overall appearance with excellent husk protection and tip fill. They are easy to harvest, having a quick snap, and they store well.

Plant Nectar corn in a sunny location with fertile, well-draining soil. Keep QuadSweets varieties, like Nectar, separate from other supersweet corns by at least 660 feet, or stagger planting times by 2 to 3 weeks to avoid cross-pollination.

Consider growing corn, beans, and squash together in a Three Sisters planting—a traditional Native American method where the beans climb the corn stalks, and the squash vines provide shade for the roots. This technique not only enhances growth but also brings a charming, historic touch to your garden.

Corn is sensitive to frost and cold, making it essential to plant Nectar corn seeds in warm spring soil after the last frost date. If temperatures drop below 50°F, protect young seedlings with row covers. Mulching your corn helps regulate soil temperature, retain moisture, and control weeds.
