Description / Profusion Red Zinnia Seeds
All-America Selections (AAS) Winner 2017
Fleuroselect Gold Medal winner 2018
It's finally herea true red Zinnia. Masses of 2-inch blooms appear from late spring 'til frost on this mounded groundcover, attracting butterflies and bees. Winner of the highly coveted, scarce-as-hen's-teeth Fleuroselect Gold Medal, Profusion Red is the zinnia we've been waiting for.
Just 14 to 18 inches high, this super-vigorous annual spreads 20 to 24 inches wide in no time, standing up to heat, drought, wind, and rain. The blooms refuse to fade in strongest summer heat, and make fine cut flowers, too. And many folks grow a few in containers just to enjoy those nonstop blooms up close.
The Profusion family is an award-winning bedding zinnia that has transformed the way this annual can be used in the garden. Highly tolerant of mildew and other foliage diseases, it laughs at heat, humidity, and drought. We are proud to give Profusion our highest recommendation for garden-worthiness.
Zinnias are one of the easiest annuals to grow, and attract butterflies to the garden. They are the perfect cut flowerthe more you cut, the more you get. They thrive in the sun and heat of summer, and ask only for well-drained soil. Space the plants generously to prevent overcrowding. When cutting the blooms for the vase, trim off all the foliage; unlike the blooms, it does not age well. Direct sow or start ahead indoors.
