Description / Prunus 'Stella' Compact Cherry Tree
Prunus 'Stella' Compact Cherry Tree grows to a compact size and is the perfect addition to any landscape. Bearing within one or two years after planting, this self-fertile tree produces large, tasty, almost black fruit. Although it is not needed, you can plant more than one for increased pollination and production.
Plant in partial to full sun in well-draining soil. 'Stella' Compact Cherry Tree is vigorous in cold climates and can produce up to 50 pounds of fruits in one season at full maturity.

It lived about 2 weeks spring 2023 0 people found this helpfulI don't know what caused it, maybe the stress of it being shipped directly after it had already broken dormancy. It had leaves on it when it arrived and was placed in the ground 2 day's later. I've been gardening for over 50 years and when something dies I usually know why. I always try to get the shippers to send out my trees while they are still dormant so I can heel them in or overwinter them in my green house. Most shippers will wait to ship until our particular planting time in our zone. That is only good for plants. The best time to ship live trees is in the fall before it's too cold and ship fully dormant trees in late winter before they break dormancy. If I remember correctly I was worried because I knew it was going to get here too late for a care free planting and was disappointed when I saw that it was already fully leafed out when it arrived. I checked several times to see if it had been shipped yet because of our weather conditions.
