Its bountiful long flower spires, dense with pure white blooms, are a favorite of pollinators, especially bumblebees; and the seed heads that follow beckon to birds. Deadheading promotes rebloom for a long season of cut flowers for fresh or dried arrangements.
Easy to grow and salt tolerant, the upright clump of aromatic, rugose green foliage is unappetizing to deer and rabbits. The plant is a perfect companion for clematis, coreopsis, dianthus (carnations or pinks), festuca (fescue), heuchera (coral bells), and nepeta (catmint).
