Description / Butterfly Blue Pincushion Flower

It's the most floriferous Scabiosa yet! From spring until fall, a sea of color rolls over these dwarf 6-inch plants. Big 2-inch blooms of light lavender-blue with wide, frilly golden centers arise on stiff, sturdy 12-inch stems, creating a tidal wave of color that just keeps coming. We've counted 400 blooms over the course of one long bloom season on a single compact plant!

And, as its name suggests, 'Butterfly Blue' brings home the butterflies, especially in a large garden planting. Deer tend to leave it alone, and it stands up quite well to environmental stresses such as drought. Generally you will find this Pincushion Flower a very low-maintenance performer!

Hardy almost everywhere in the contiguous United States, Scabiosa is a snap to grow in well-drained soil receiving full sun to light shade (in the deep south and west). Native to the Mediterranean, Scabiosa prefers soil on the alkaline side, and can be damaged by excessively wet winter soils. Plants spread about 12 inches wide, so space them a foot apart. The foliage is grayish-green, forming a basal rosette that remains attractive from spring until frost.

My plant arrived quickly and well packaged. I followed the directions with pre-planting and planting. It is thriving and already has so many blooms. I am very happy with my purchase and would not hesitate to buy from them again.

Awful condition plants, super slow shipping and customer service that is lacking. I ordered 3 scabiosa that were in stock, two weeks later I get plants that should have been on a clearance rack with yellowed leaves and broken stems. I called customer service and they said that they still had them in stock and would ship out new plants the next day and I should get them in 5-6 days. A week later they still hadn't shipped so I called again. They said they made a mistake and would 2 day ship it to me. When I hadn't recieved it 4 days later I called again and was told that they sent it 5-6 ground shipping. Well when I recieved the plants almost a month after my initial purchase they were bone dry and wilted. I called customer service for a fourth time and received a refund. I will never buy from Park seed again.
