Description / Sedum Mojave Jewels™ 'Sapphire' Stonecrop
Sedum Mojave Jewels™ 'Sapphire' Stonecrop is a succulent, herbaceous perennial offering 3 seasons of interest, blooming in late summer through early fall. This sedum offers a unique color combination that is simply stunning. Spiraling open from green buds and quickly turning bright pink, the large clusters of dainty flowers pop against a backdrop of fleshy, deep-purple-blue foliage. And the more sun it gets, the darker the color will be. The blooms attract bees and butterflies to the garden and make excellent cut flowers for floral displays indoors.
A Sedum hybrid, commonly called stonecrop, Mojave Jewels 'Sapphire' has an upright habit and slow growth rate. It spreads over time, making a nice ground cover. Although 'Sapphire' is a great specimen and container plant, it is shown to best effect when massed or grouped in mixed beds and borders and is especially well-suited to rock gardens. Festuca and ornamental grasses are good companion plants for sedum.
Cold hardy and easy to grow, stonecrop grows best in sunny locations with about any type of soil, as long as it is well-draining. Sedum Mojave Jewels 'Sapphire' Stonecrop is heat and drought tolerant and deer resistant.
