Description / Solarscape® Magenta Bliss Interspecific Impatiens Seeds

Days to Maturity: 112

Solarscape® is the first interspecific impatiens series from seed. Solarscape® Magenta Bliss is a tender perennial, usually grown as an annual, offering late spring through late summer interest. The vibrant, satiny, warm magenta/violet-purple blooms cover the plant non-stop all season, adding tropical appeal to the garden.

The high-performance varieties in the Solarscape® series grow well in sun or shade and fill in quickly. Solarscape Magenta Bliss has a mounded habit of dense foliage with superior disease resistance, especially to impatiens downy mildew. It is shown to best effect when massed in beds and borders or in containers and hanging baskets. Solarscape Magenta Bliss is a great option for brightening areas with dappled sun, such as around the base of trees.

A beloved, low-maintenance garden staple, interspecific impatiens prefers partial to full sun and humus rich, moist, well-drained soil. It is important to keep impatiens well watered and protected from strong winds.

Growing interspecific impatiens from seed is easy. Start seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost date and transplant seedlings into the garden in spring when the threat of frost has passed.

If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.

Bought these and two other packs of solarscape impatiens. All started indoors in a temperature controlled environment and of the 24 seeds planted, not even one has started to germinate. Beyond disappointed for how expensive they are.

    Response from store

We’re so sorry to hear that none of your Solarscape impatiens seeds germinated—that’s definitely frustrating, especially given the time and effort you put in. We’d love to make this right and gather some additional details about your germination process to better understand what may have happened. We’ll be reaching out via email shortly to discuss this further!

Poor Production 0 people found this helpful

I've grown my own annuals from seed for over 15 years. Temp regulated, best medium etc. All the Solarscape seeds yielded less than 25%.

    Response from store

That’s not the experience we want for you! We take germination seriously, and we’re sorry these seeds didn’t perform as expected. Our team will be in touch to learn more, and we’d be happy to send a replacement if you’d like to try again. Thanks for sharing your feedback!

Great germination, great yield. Start them early, they were very delicate when I planted them out. Once they took hold that were hardy, beautiful, and bloomed into late fall. They were like little bushes at the end.
