Description / Sunfinity® Yellow Dark Center Sunflower Seeds

Plant Sunfinity® Yellow Dark Center Sunflower Seeds in spring, and in summer, the plant blooms in 4-inch flower heads with bright yellow rays surrounding a dark brown center. Borne in clusters on stiff, course stems, the blooms continue over a long season, up to 12 weeks, and last a long time in a vase. Be sure to cut sunflowers in the early morning to encourage longer-lasting blooms.

Although a towering, elegant, and architectural presence in the garden, this uniform, well-branched plant is not too tall to add to the back of a bed or border in a cottage, informal, cutting, or wildlife garden, where the flowers beckon to bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects, and the tasty seeds bring the birds flocking.

A hardy annual, sunflowers are fast-growing, tough plants, both heat tolerant and pest resistant, including deer. But consider planting with chives. The onion scent helps deter aphids.

The seeds are easy to direct sow. Just pick a sunny spot with 6 to 8 hours of direct sun, moderately fertile, humus-rich, neutral to alkaline, moist soil, and good drainage, preferably sheltered from the wind. Rake to a fine tilth, clearing stones and weeds; plant seeds ½ to 1 ½ inches deep, spaced 18 inches apart; cover thoroughly with soil; and water regularly. Applying a light application of fertilizer at time of planting and watering deeply but infrequently, once the plant is established, promotes deep rooting. And succession planting, sowing a new row every two to three weeks, will keep sunflowers coming right up to the first frost.

Plants can also be started indoors and planted outdoors after the risk of frost has passed. If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.

Amazing Sunflower 0 people found this helpful

I tried this variety a couple of years back and WOW, I was amazed. This sunflower never stops blooming for weeks after weeks. I live in zone 8 and it is very tolerant to heat. It is pricey but worth it. The germination rate is about 80%.

All summer long 0 people found this helpful

I bought these last year. 2022. They are adorable sunflowers that give you blooms all summer long. I started mine indoors and tansplanted outside beginning of June and by thend of June I had my first flowers. By August my plants were covered in sunflowers. They really did keep going. They started fizzling out in Sept. These are a must in your garden.

I started these in my greenhouse and transplanted outside at the end of May. Now in July I have many flowers on each plant. They are 4.5 feet high and have many branches. Very much worth the price for such spectacular plants and flowers.

Best Sunflower for Mason Jars 0 people found this helpful

This now-stop bloomer helped me fill my mason jar orders with a smiling sunflower each week of my 10 weeks and more CSA. Smaller they fit into arrangements much better than traditional sunflowers. Thank you for developing!

Just Beautiful! 0 people found this helpful

They are the perfect "sun yellow" color. Using for my daughter's wedding and were just beautiful! Only 3 of the 5 germinated and being so expensive you only get 5 for $10 I should had purchased the sunspot instead.

100 blooms? not 0 people found this helpful

These are mostly done by mid-June here in northern Virginia. The flowers at the top are all dead so they look ugly. Total waste of money. I'm ripping them all out tomorrow.

Sunfinity Sunflower 0 people found this helpful
I purchased 8 Sunfinity Sunflowers at Lowe's and planted them in my flower garden. The flowers are beautiful and get full sun on the south side of our home. However, Goldfinch birds like the Sunflowers as well. The birds knock the pedals off the stem. So, in a few days most of the pedals are broken off. Is there anyway to prevent the birds from damaging these nice flowers? Thank you! Ken
