Description / Super Sugar Snap Pea Seeds

64 days from direct-sowing.

The sweetest sugar snap ever grown, Super Sugar Snap bears a quicker, heavier crop than most others. It has become a classic favorite among Park gardeners, and we offer our highest recommendation for big, delicious crops every time from this dependable favorite!

The 55- to 65-inch vines are very productive, bearing twice as many pods as others. And the flavor of these tender, succulent peas is superb! The thick-walled, plump pods are just bursting with savory goodness.

Very vigorous, these vines are tolerant of Powdery Mildew and Pea Leaf Roll Virus, which makes Super Sugar Snap a good choice for beginning gardeners as well as seasoned vets. Begin your pea season a little sooner and realize incredible yields with this workhorse!

Easy to grow, peas love cold weather, so plant as soon as the soil can be worked in the spring. Direct-sow 1 to 2 inches apart and 1 to 1½ inches deep. Peas are also ideal as a fall crop started in late summer. To conserve space and simplify harvesting, sow in double rows with a trellis between rows.

Be sure to plow under this entire plant after harvesting its big crop of peas. Super Sugar Snap is a legume, so it will help fix nitrogen in the soil. You will see the results of this next season in your garden, when your soil is more loamy, rich, and healthy than ever!

Seed not consistent - Snow /Sugar Snap 2 people found this helpful

Beautiful plants that are producing well but many producing snow peas, not sugar snap. They still taste great (although they cook quicker so need to separate). Plants look almost identical. Lot # SV21120003

Another Gardener gave me some of these a few years ago. First time to grow any peas and I was very successful. Loved them raw off the vine. Cooked a mess for my family-just added a little butter, salt , and pepper and my family said the best peas they had ever eaten. We are hooked!

These rarely make it to the house since we eat them straight off the vine. I am in south Louisiana and these do amazing for me during the cooler months of Nov-Mar.

The best peas in my garden 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

I have 6 different varieties of peas in my garden and these are by far my favorite! The fruit is sweet and plentiful with the perfect snap that you're looking for. Each plant has 6-8 weeks of back to back pea production, perfect for grazing in the garden. Build a tall support for these peas because they will get really tall! All my neighbors are convinced I'm a good gardener just based off these peas.

I had never planted peas before but gave these a shot and boy am I hooked the whole family loved grabbing them off the vine and gobbled them up - they had a good germination rate, were easy to care for and essentially pest free and the taste was AMAZING

Wonderful! 1 people found this helpful

I love this pea! The only reason my wife lets me work in the garden so much is because she can enjoy this wonderful plant. Don't be fooled...it grows strong and it grows quickly, so make sure to put your trellis in early. We are in Kansas City with clay soil.

Love this pea 2 people found this helpful

2012 will be the 6th year I have grown this pea. They always do well for me. I am in the mountains of Western , NC, elevation 2030 Ft. I grow these up a very tall trellis. They end up maybe about 7 or 8 feet tall when finished. I stash a bunch of these peas in my freezer and enjoy them all winter long.
