Description / Vitis Concord Blue Seedless Grape

Vitis Concord Blue Seedless Grape is a stunning deciduous grapevine that is not only productive but also serves as an ornamental addition to your garden. With its heritage dating back generations, it's recognized as one of the most user-friendly varieties for home gardeners. The vine blooms with subtle yellowish-green flowers in mid to late spring, leading to clusters of nearly black, dark purple fruits that are ready for harvest in early September. Echoing the sweet taste of the iconic Concord grapes, these fruits are delightfully seedless, with smaller clusters that mature earlier. Perfect for fresh consumption, juicing, or pie and preserve making, the fruit boasts a rich, irresistible flavor.

The Vitis Concord Blue Seedless Grape is a robust, hardy vine that requires careful nurturing. In the first year, let the vine grow freely. By the second or third year, it should be pruned heavily and staked or posted, leaving only 2 or 3 buds on the strongest stem. As it matures, maintain only the most vigorous sprout to form the main stem. Regular pruning and spraying will optimize fruit production. The vine can be cultivated on a wire trellis, espaliered on a wall, or trained on an arbor, pergola, or fence, creating a captivating garden spectacle.

These grapevines thrive best in sunny spots with deep, well-draining soil. They are adaptable to a variety of soils, particularly clays and loams enhanced with organic matter, provided they have good drainage. Choose a location sheltered from harsh winter winds for best results. Shallow cultivation and mulching are beneficial. The vine is self-fertile, producing fruit without the need for pollen from other varieties.

Grapes ship as 1-year-old plants.

Plants came at correct time to plant. Two looked decent but one looked bad. Planted it according to directions. The two good ones are getting buds. The other one is ugly and dead looking. Kinda disappointed in the quality right now. I really doubt if it will ever grow. Wanted to use on our patio trellises.
