In hot summer climates, provide full morning sun and some afternoon shade. A marginal aquatic plant, it prefers organically rich, moisture-retentive soil, but tolerates a wide range of soils, including wet, clay, and loam. The plant benefits from regular watering and feeding with a liquid fertilizer high in potash. Deer and rabbit resistant.
