Description / 'Texas' Freesia Bulbs
Freesias are native of South Africa and are some of our favorite bulbs with their dramatic upward facing blossoms in a range of bright colors and a citrusy scent. Each freesia stem produces five to ten tubular flowers in the late spring through the early summer. The blooms grow on only one side of the stem creating a dramatic display. The stems turn at right angles just below the lowest flower, which results in blossoms that face the sky to attract both pollinators and complements from passerby's. These showy blooms make 'Texas' Freesia perfect for cut flower arrangements. Freesias need full sun and cool night temperatures. Keep them well watered. When the leaves begin to brown after the flowers have faded, the plants may be gradually dried off and the corms saved for the following year so you can enjoy them season after season.
'Texas' Freesia has charming yellow blooms that will attract birds and other pollinators and will delight you with it's lovely fragrance. They are incredible in beds, borders, and containers. Freesias are deer resistant, drought tolerant, and low maintenance so there's no reason not to add these stunners to your garden.
