Description / Mushroom Portabella Kit
These mushrooms are Certified Organic, GLOBAL G.A.P, USDA Organic, Certified South Carolina, and Certified Appalachian Grown™ products.
Fresh homegrown mushrooms are closer than you think with the Mushroom Portabella Kit from Park Seed. Designed for ease and reliability, this kit allows gardeners of any experience level to grow rich, meaty portabella mushrooms right on the kitchen counter. Portabella mushrooms are prized for their deep flavor and firm texture, making them a favorite for grilling, roasting, and hearty recipes.
Portabella mushrooms are the largest of the cultivated mushrooms and can reach up to 6 inches across at maturity. A close relative of common white and brown mushrooms, portabellas develop over a longer growth cycle that results in a richer flavor and meatier texture. When properly cared for, gardeners can expect to harvest approximately 2 to 3 pounds of mushrooms from the kit. The growing medium arrives fully prepared, removing the guesswork often associated with mushroom cultivation.
This kit is ideal for indoor growing and requires no garden space or special equipment. Ideal indoor temperatures range from 55 to 65 F. Outdoor growing is suitable only when temperatures remain consistently cool. Kits should be opened immediately upon arrival and brought indoors, especially in winter. If indoor living spaces are consistently above 70 F, placing the kit in a cooler room is recommended.
This item ships from September through the end of May. Full instructions are included. Your kit requires immediate care upon arrival, so it is important to open the package as soon as it is received and read the instructions carefully for any urgent care that may be required. For northern customers receiving kits during winter, open the package immediately upon arrival, move the kit indoors right away, and follow the instructions for indoor setup rather than attempting outdoor use. Outdoor use is only recommended when ambient temperatures remain within the ideal range.
