Description / Profusion Double Deep Salmon Zinnia Seeds

All-America Selections (AAS) Winner 2013

Can the Profusions really have done it again. Is there no end to their power. Profusion Double Deep Salmon Zinnia (and its sister Double Hot Cherry) have won All-America Selection Awards, joining their illustrious family members. One look at Profusion Double Deep Salmon Zinnia plant is all you'll need to show you how far Profusion has come. The flowers are bigger, the plant more spreading in habit, and the super-dazzling color is fade-proof. Wow.

When we grew the first zinnia Profusions in our trial gardens here at Park, the "oohs" and "aahs" were deafening. And no wonder—Profusion Cherry (and its sunny sister, Orange) won the AAS Gold Medal Flower Award—the first flowers to receive this prestigious award in a decade. And then both cherry and white walked off with Europe's Fleuroselect Gold as well. And now the double-flowered varieties are claiming their prizes, with better-than-ever disease resistance, adaptability, and self-cleaning ease of care.

These bushy Profusion Double Deep Salmon Zinnia plants are 14 to 18 inches high and 20 to 24 inches wide, are simply smothered nonstop all season with cheerful, 2-inch daisy-formed blooms. The petals are a very unusual combination of orange and pink, with slightly darker edges, and they arise in many layers. This landscaping series is designed for large plantings—unlike the cut flower or bedding varieties, Profusion is a dense, bushy, many-flowered little plant that covers ground and fills the garden with color.

Profusion Double Deep Salmon Zinnia is highly tolerant of mildew and other foliage diseases, and laughs at heat, humidity, and drought. We are proud to give Profusion our highest recommendation for garden-worthiness.

Zinnias are one of the easiest annuals to grow, and attract butterflies to the garden. They are the perfect cut flower—the more you cut, the more you get. They thrive in the sun and heat of summer, and ask only for well-drained soil. Space the Profusion Double Deep Salmon Zinnia plants generously to prevent overcrowding. When cutting the blooms for the vase, trim off all the foliage; unlike the blooms, it does not age well. Direct sow or start ahead indoors.

Never have I ever lived without these profusion zinnias since the first time I found them here at Parkseed! I direct sow them in pots and they don’t need a thing all summer except water and a little food. Love all the colors in these Perfect Profusion zinnias!

More of an apricot color 0 people found this helpful

I guess colors vary, but nothing I bought that was supposed to be salmon, was salmon. For me, these have turned out to be more of an apricot color. Pretty, and doing well, but not what the picture shows--in my yard anyway.

I have grown Zinnia Profusion & Zahara for several years. 0 people found this helpful

These two species are my "GO TO" flowers in my front yard every year. The reason? We have many, many deer roaming around. While my back yard is fenced (no deer there). The deer have (not yet, after several years, bothered these two species of zinnias!!!). I start the seeds indoors in early spring, then put out the plants when it warms up. They come in many different colors and stay bushy all season (water when it does not give you occasional rain!). Never had one eaten!!

Never again. 0 people found this helpful

I was so excited about the color, the size, and I wanted something different. Many of the flowers were single petals, the color would turn to yellow or were yellow when they bloomed, small and tiny blossoms.

Beautiful and heavy blooming 0 people found this helpful

I have planted these for some years now and they are always a bright spot along the edge of a vegetable bed. The flowers are on short stems, but there are so many per plant that they make lovely little bouquets to place around the house. I usually grow the apricot, cherry and white and have the most amazing bouquets. The color of the apricot blooms changes with maturity which adds variety.

Beautifull but not salmon colored 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

Plants germinated 100% and grew strongly. I was disappointed though that the color was not salmon as described and shown in the photo but a true orange. Maybe a soil difference? Height after 3 months in the garden 3 feet and going strong. Anyway, just an FYI that plants will do what they want no matter what we wish them to be.

I was very satisfied with the selection they had to offer. I cannot wait to plant my seeds next year and watch them turn into beautiful, colorful, flowers. I love flowers and I'm very excited. I brought mostly summer seeds because I love summer colors. I love zinnas because they never fail you. I'm taking a chance on the other seeds. I hope they show themselves beautiful as well. I enjoyed shopping with this company.
