Description / Raspberry Anne

For one of the best varieties of golden raspberries, many gardeners plant Anne Raspberries. They were bred through cooperation of four different state agricultural programs. People who grow it say that the Anne Raspberry is one of the best-tasting golden raspberries available. Hands-down the best-tasting yellow Raspberry, 'Anne' is also highly productive, ripening at the same time as 'Heritage.' The fruit is large, pale yellow, and super sweet, superb for eating fresh or for canning on an everbearing plant.

This Raspberry reaches about 4 feet tall, and appreciates a spring pruning for summer production or a complete cutback (it can be mowed down) for fall crops. If pruned in late winter, it sets one crop in early summer and another in late summer to fall.

Developed by the cooperative breeding program of 4 states (Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, and Wisconsin), 'Anne' is widely adapted and very dependable, with extra-large, pale yellow berries in great numbers. Give it a try this season for a new look and extra-sweet flavor from your berry patch! Zones 4-10.

Raspberries like full sun and good air circulation. They do best in enriched garden soil that is moisture retentive but well-drained. Plant about 3 feet apart in the row, or train up a trellis. Plant about 1 inch deep in heavy soils, 2 inches in loose, sandy soils. For best growth, cut back immediately after planting, to prevent the plant from setting fruit the first year. This will give you much stronger growth and better harvests in years to come. Water well during growth, and consider mulching to conserve water until the following spring, when the mulch should be removed to let the plants warm up.

Anne Rasberries 0 people found this helpful

I was skeptical when I revived this batch of sad looking roots and stems in a cold, wet paper bag but I did just as the instructions said and they started sprouting leaves in about 3 days and are now 5 to 6 weeks old and 2-3 ft tall and and about 18 inches around they are growing like crazy so now I’m just hoping for some berries soon, looks like they we be just what I wanted.

I ordered these last spring. One of the three plants died. But these are the best raspberries I've ever eaten. I had berries till it frosted. Will order more this year.

My absolute favorite raspberry... 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

This is my absolute favorite raspberry. We have yet to actually get a bounty of berries to take indoors, because we can't help but eat them straight off the bushes. They have such a sweet, mild flavor. I had to put a fence around them to keep our dogs from helping themselves to the fruit. I am ordering three more plants this year in hopes that I might be able to preserve some in the coming years.
