Description / Toy Choy Hybrid Pak Choi Seeds

40 days from direct sowing.

A miniature Pak Choi, little Toy Choy Hybrid is the perfect single-serving vegetable, with smooth, dark green leaves and glistening crisp white stalks. Just the right size to set on your plate, this quick-maturing little wonder is a gourmet treat you can enjoy all season long.

Toy Choy offers smooth, dark green foliage arising from pure white stalks, quite firm and crisp to the bite. The flavor is mild, tender, and succulent. A treat that is also packed with nutrition, quick to finish, and compact enough to grow in containers as well as the vegetable garden!

And even if you live in a northern climate where frost may come unexpectedly early, chances are you have time to grow and harvest this super-quick little delicacy! It loves the cool weather, so sow it successively from late summer all the way to mid-fall, depending upon the first anticipated frost date in your area. Great fresh eating all season -- right through Thanksgiving in some climates!

Pak Choi (or Bok Choi) is grown like Chinese cabbage: it is a cool-season crop typically grown in fall and early winter, though in warmer climates harvest can continue well into winter. Seeds are best direct-sown in rows about 2 feet apart. As the seedlings emerge, thin them to 12 inches apart. Pkt is 100 seeds.

This is my second year planting this fantastic vegetable. They are beautiful to watch grow. I cook them in soups. Give them full sun and sit back, they grow quickly.

Perfect cool season greens 2 people found this helpful

Savannah GA winters are usually very mild allowing us to grow greens throughout. This small Pak Choi worked perfectly October thru December with no pests or disease. By starting the seed in Park Starts mid August and planting out early October, we began harvesting outer leaves by Thanksgiving. We harvested whole plants throughout December. The last plants began to bolt as temps dropped in January. We've already bought more of this fabulous seed.
