Description / Zinnia 'Zinderella Lilac' Seeds

Fleuroselect Novelty Award Winner 2014

The Zinderella family of zinnias burst onto the scene with their captivating beauty and unique flower form. Among them, Zinnia 'Zinderella Lilac' stands out with its stunning crested pompon blooms in a bright lilac hue, accentuated by a delicate cream "halo" around the central eye. These double blooms, measuring 2 to 2½ inches wide, are a sight to behold, with petals arranged in layers like a pincushion flower (scabiosa).

Zinnia Zinderella Lilac varieties are known for their distinctive appearance, resembling scabiosa blooms. The tightly clustered short petals create a pompon effect, while the longer, daisylike petals form a pretty skirt. This combination of textures and colors adds depth and visual interest to each bloom. Instead of a traditional round flower shape, Zinderella zinnias have an elongated form, giving them a unique charm that sets them apart from other varieties.

In addition to their beauty, Zinderella zinnias are valued for their endurance in both the garden and the vase. These blooms have an extended vase life, lasting for an impressive amount of time. Whether you choose to enjoy them in floral arrangements or let them grace your garden, you can count on Zinderella zinnias to bring beauty for days on end.

Zinnia Zinderella Lilac varieties also attract pollinators and beneficial insects, making them a valuable addition to any garden. Bees, butterflies, and other beneficial bugs are drawn to the vibrant blooms, helping to support a healthy ecosystem. By planting Zinderella zinnias, you not only bring elegance to your outdoor space but also contribute to the well-being of the environment.

Growing Zinderella zinnias from seed is a rewarding and straightforward process. These annuals can be sown directly into the warm spring soil of your garden or started indoors using seed trays or containers. If you choose to start them indoors, it's recommended to sow the seeds a few weeks before the last spring frost date. Once the danger of frost has passed and temperatures are consistently warm, you can transplant the seedlings into your garden.

Zinderella zinnias are known for their resilience and adaptability. With proper care and maintenance, these plants thrive in a variety of growing conditions. They prefer full sun but can tolerate some light shade. Well-draining soil is essential to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot. Once established, Zinderella zinnias are relatively low-maintenance and have a good branching habit, producing masses of buds for continuous blooming.

As a "cut-and-come-again" annual, Zinderella zinnias have the remarkable ability to produce new flowers as soon as the old ones are cut or deadheaded. This means that you can enjoy an ongoing display of fresh blooms throughout the summer season. Whether you're creating stunning bouquets for your home or want to add color to your landscape, Zinderella zinnias are a delightful choice.

With a height of approximately 25 to 30 inches and a width of 15 to 18 inches, Zinnia 'Zinderella Lilac' has a compact and bushy growth habit. Its strong stems ensure that the blooms stay upright and showcase their beauty to the fullest. This makes 'Zinderella Lilac' an excellent option for both garden beds and containers, bringing a vibrant burst of color to any space.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to add the enchanting beauty of Zinnia 'Zinderella Lilac' to your garden or floral arrangements. These double-flowered wonders will captivate you with their unique form, lovely lilac color, and delicate cream accents. Bring a touch of elegance and charm to your outdoor spaces with zinnias and enjoy their enduring beauty throughout the season.

Not anything like the photos 0 people found this helpful

I was so excited for the zinnias because of how unusual they are. I also absolutely loved the colors in the photo. My plants just started to bloom and they don’t look anything like the picture online! They are only about an inch wide and only one layer of petals. Very disappointing. I ordered numerous seeds from this company and now that they are blooming, they don’t look anything like the online photos.

Disappointed 0 people found this helpful

This is a very pretty zinnia, the sad thing is that only 5 of the 25 had the puffy center like the picture. The rest were just ordinary singles.

I bought the 5 dif color, first batch came up but the were all regular zinnias. I sent en email to ParkSeed. They said theyd talked to their horticulturalist and they said to send them the lot number and pictures which I did and have not heard a reply yet. I want my money back or seeds that will bloom as advertised.

Terrible 0 people found this helpful

I love and grow a lot of zinnias and I was excited to try these. They looked nothing like the big fluffy blooms in the pictures. They were about 16” tall with single sickly looking little sorta lilac colored flowers. Huge disappointment ????

Disappointing size bloom 0 people found this helpful

It may be a pretty color but these blossoms are no more than an inch wide. I expected a typical zinnia blossom of at least 2 inches.

Zinderella zinnias 0 people found this helpful

I was intrigued with these new offerings, from Holland I think, so I ordered, at a premium price, 3 packets of different colors. I started them in Park's biodomes and they germinated fast. However, not one of the plants produced zinnias with the tufted look, not one. They bloomed nicely but mostly the orange and red ones, all like miniature regular (not even doubles) zinnias. HUGE dsappointment.

huge disappointment 0 people found this helpful

These Zinderella zinnas ( i bought all three colors) germinated fairly well , most of them. I used Park's "biodomes." But not one of the Zinderellas has the form shown in the picture. They are like miniature zinnias, growing only to about 10-12 inches tall and definitely not double. Manyof Park's seeds were a disappointment this year, as were the annual plants.

  10. They Just Look Like Normal Zinnias 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I was pretty disappointed in these. They did bloom, but they do not look like the picture. They just look like normal zinnias, which I could have bought for cheaper. I still have some that are buds, so I'm hoping that maybe some will look different. I'll update this review if so.

I love zinnias and I grow a lot of them. I was excited to try these but they look like weak, sick small, single little unhappy flowers. I have several plants now in full bloom and they look so pathetic next to my Dreamland zinnias. They should have tested this seed more before mass sales. Super disappointed in this one. :(
