How much water does it take to germinate and then maintain? I live in zone 7a elevation 6500

Keep the soil moist during germination, watering lightly once or twice a day. It takes 1–2 years to fully establish, so during the first summer, water twice per week in hot, dry conditions. Once mature, it’s drought-tolerant and typically needs water once per week or when the soil feels dry.
