Description / Citrus Clementine Mandarin Tree

Citrus Clementine Mandarin Tree is a semi-dwarf variety that's cherished for both its fruit yield and ornamental elegance. This cultivar perfectly complements any edible landscape, blooming in spring with clusters of radiant, highly scented white flowers. These blossoms give way to a bountiful harvest of vibrant mandarins from October to December, offering a delightfully sweet, bright flavor; an easy-to-peel skin; and minimal seeds.

The Citrus Clementine Mandarin Tree, a Citrus x clementina, also known as De Nules Mandarin, Clemenules, Nulesina, Clementina Reina, Clementina Victoria, and Reina Y Gorda de Nules, is a popular variety in California and the predominant clementine cultivar in Spain. Despite the interchangeable use of the terms mandarin and tangerine, the former typically alludes to Asian varieties, while the latter refers to African types.

Citrus Clementine Mandarin Tree is grafted onto semi-dwarf rootstock, which gives it a compact structure that's perfect as a centerpiece or accent plant. It can also be trained as an espalier or cultivated in a container. When planted in a garden, the tree grows 10 to 15 feet tall at full maturity, but it can be pruned to maintain a specific size and shape. When grown in a container, the tree remains smaller while still producing full-sized, fragrant fruits.

The Citrus Clementine Mandarin Tree thrives in heat, requiring at least 8 hours of full sunlight daily. It prefers deep, well-draining soil that's kept consistently moist, but can tolerate a variety of soil types, excluding heavy, wet ones. The tree needs protection from strong winds and freezing temperatures. Container plants should be moved indoors at the first sign of frost and placed in a sunlit location. This self-fertile tree produces fruit without the need for cross-pollination.

Citrus trees will ship at the appropriate planting time based on your growing zone. Citrus trees do not ship in December or January. Plant height is 18-36" when shipped.
