I love getting back outside when the weather cools down! Spring and fall bring beautiful greens, colorful harvests, and usually a lot less insect pressure. These are the varieties I’m most excited to grow.

The one system I use
My Seed-Starting Favorite: The Bio Dome
Before the Bio Dome, I thought starting three or four seeds in every cell and hoping one came up was normal. Now I usually plant one seed and feel confident it will germinate!
The tray is strong, durable, and easy to carry outside for hardening off. I’ve used mine for years instead of replacing flimsy trays every season; I simply refill it with fresh planting sponges. I own several because it’s truly what I use.

The Georgia Jets Harvest
The kids’ favorite part of gardening is harvest day. We still laugh about the day they pulled these enormous Georgia Jets sweet potatoes from the ground. We were completely surprised by their size!
Warm-season gardening gives us so much to cook, preserve, and enjoy together, from tomato sauce to all the creative things we make with zucchini.

How it all started
From Our Backyard to Seed to Spoon
My husband Dale and I started gardening in 2016 as part of a healthier lifestyle. Neither of us had gardened before, and we kept wishing there were a simple app to guide us.
Dale used his software background to build what we needed, and he taught me how to work in the database so I could add plants, pests, and beneficial insects. What began as a tool for our own family grew into Seed to Spoon and a way to help many more families feel confident growing food.
