An organic variety, Esterina F1, a yellow cherry tomato, is grown as a fruit vegetable. The plant sets small "perfect" flowers, followed by small round fruits. The fruit has excellent crack resistance, bright color, and an outstanding sweet flavor. Eat fresh or cooked. Tomatoes are considered a superfood for their nutrient rich content, having a high (top 20) Aggregate Nutrient Density Index score (ANDI), or micronutrient-per-calorie density. Tomatoes are a good source of vitamin C and provide vitamin A and potassium. They also contain carotenoid lycopene and beta-carotene as well as phenolic acids and flavonoids.

Typically grown as an annual, Esterina F1 Organic Cherry Tomato, an herbaceous tender perennial, is a member of the nightshade family (Solanaceae), which contains plants that typically grow in temperate to tropical regions. A vigorous, multi-cluster, indeterminate variety, often called a "vining" tomato, Esterina requires staking or caging for support. Blossoms and fruit continue to develop as the vine grows, so, it bears an impressive amount fruit over the course of a season.

Esterina F1 Organic Cherry Tomato grows best in full sun and moist, humusy, deep, fertile loams. It is resistant to fusarium wilt 1-2, verticillium wilt, tomato yellow leaf curl virus, and tobacco mosaic virus. Self-pollinating, it will bear fruit without any pollen from other varieties.

A warm-season vegetable, sensitive to cold temperatures and frost, tomato seed should be direct sown into warm spring soil after all threat of frost has passed. Seeds can also be started indoors about 8 weeks before transplanting to the garden. Flowers begin to set fruit with night temperatures between 55 and 75°F. Protect plants with row covers if temperatures are expected to dip below 50°F. Mulching helps to moderate soil temperature and to maintain soil moisture.

If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.

Two seasons ago I started way more seeds than I could use so I gave away quite a few seedlings to my neighbors. Well this past growing season everyone was asking if I was growing this tomato again. Even my 5 year old grandson kept asking for those yummy yellow tomatoes. Sadly I had not purchased these seeds this year. I will not make that mistake again!

My staple tomato 1 people found this helpful

I love this improved sungold tomato. It cracks so much less; doesn't need to turn as orange for sweetness; and has bigger fruits. This is my staple tomato and 25% of my planting. It is pretty darn sweet. I don't can tomatoes, but I do make batches of fresh and freezer sauce, and adding these to the mixture means I never need sugar. It also self-sows really well in 7b.
