Description / Lemon Drop Improved F1 Hybrid Cherry Tomato Seeds

Days to Maturity: 65

Lemon Drop, an Improved F1 hybrid cherry tomato, is grown as a fruit vegetable. The plant sets small "perfect" flowers, followed by 1/2-inch bright yellow fruits that have an excellent sweet flavor with a touch of citrus. Tomatoes are considered a superfood for their nutrient rich content, having a high (top 20) Aggregate Nutrient Density Index score (ANDI), or micronutrient-per-calorie density. Tomatoes are a good source of vitamin C and provide vitamin A and potassium. They also contain carotenoid lycopene and beta-carotene as well as phenolic acids and flavonoids.

Grown as an annual, Lemon Drop Improved F1 Hybrid Cherry Tomato, an herbaceous tender perennial, is a member of the nightshade family (Solanaceae), which contains plants that typically grow in temperate to tropical regions. A compact, semi-determinant variety, it may require staking or caging for support. Blossoms and fruit continue to develop as the vine grows. So, it bears fruit over the course of a season, producing an incredible yield of thousands of fruits per plant.

Lemon Drop Improved F1 Hybrid Cherry Tomato grows best in full sun and moist, humusy, deep, fertile loams. It is disease resistant. Self-pollinating, it will bear fruit without any pollen from other varieties.

A warm-season vegetable, sensitive to cold temperatures and frost, tomato seeds should be direct sown into warm spring soil after all danger of frost has passed. Seeds can also be started indoors 5 to 6 weeks before the first frost date and transplanted. Flowers begin to set fruit with night temperatures between 55 and 75°F. Protect plants with row covers if temperatures are expected to dip below 50°F. Mulching helps to moderate soil temperature and to maintain soil moisture.

If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.

Grew it last year. It was an early, heavy producer with a great flavor and a thin skin. We grew 8 varieties of cherry tomatoes. This one is a must have in our estimation. We grow, here at EVENSONG, a garden place, at least 75 large black tubs of tomatoes and peppers. With these plants we are able to feed our family and give over 70 # to the food bank. Our way of doing pass it forward.
