Description / Spacemaster 80 Cucumber Seeds

Days to Maturity: 60

If you've had trouble growing cukes in your climate, or if you don't have the space to invest in a sprawling vine, Spacemaster 80 is the solution. This productive plant is only 36 inches long, yet bears a big harvest of slender, smooth 7- to 8-inch cukes. The fruit is crisp and tasty, with a satisfying bite just right in a slicer. Spacemaster 80 performs very well in a wide range of climates, and is resistant to cucumber mosaic virus, downy mildew, powdery mildew and scab.

Direct sow seeds in a sunny spot after all danger of frost is past, or start indoors and transplant when the first true leaf appears. Cucumbers can be allowed to grow on the ground, but for longer, straighter fruit and to save garden space, grow them in a cage or on a trellis, allowing 1 foot between plants. Keep them well-watered, and keep the fruits picked promptly.

Delicious cucks! 0 people found this helpful

I planted 2 plants and the vines went crazy producing cucumbers that are tasty, crispy & the skin was not bitter! There was enough to eat, give away & make a gallon of pickles! The vines held up really well in our humid climate. Did get some angular leaf spot, which this variety does not list as resistant to, but the vines kept on growing and producing for a couple months until some pickle worms (think that's what they were) moved in their entire army. :( I plan to plant another fall crop!

Mediocre cucumbers 0 people found this helpful

Not really a bush cucumber. Vines are shorter but up to 5 feet long. Cucumbers are small and half of them are bitter. I would not grow this again.

These plants have withstood multiple attacks by critters and insects alike, and have gone on to produce great fruit regardless. Great for pickling!

Good flavor and productive but large seeds 1 people found this helpful

    Rating

The flavor and crispness of this cucumber is very nice. I did however notice that the seeds were very large and there were a lot of them. It would be great for juicing or if you don't mind the larger seeds.
